anyone have any positive experience with yahoo groups in regard to sailing? I
haven't seen one yet that promote going to sea in dangerously inadequate el
cheapo boats or paranoia about building boats strong enough to take a rocket
blast from attacking pirates or other such nonsence.

any yahoo groups about sailing out there, or are they all some retard without
adult supervision idea of a circle jerk?

the thistle group seems to be pretty good. Lots
of useful thistle information.

I have found the Sailnet.com lists to be especially useful. The yahoo.com lists
I signed on to (lowcostvoyaging, and somefrichintingboatbuilding) to be less
than worthless, in fact dangerous to anyone who might be ignorant and trying to
learn.

somethingboatbuild (rick dum bradshaw's list) promotes building a boat to
withstand a hit "a copper-jacketed .357 round from 20 feet" fired by a 17
year-old-pirate in a loin cloth, while ekchreapoestvoyaging (mikey casling)
promotes going to sea in dangerous inadequate boats, firm in their conviction
that with an EPRIB the USCG will rescue their sorry asses, and if some young
coatie dies in the effort, so what?

I know of several but I'm not giving you any details. Even if you ask
nicely.
