Default Experience the life of a 19th century sailor on an overnight adventure sail

OVERNIGHT ADVENTURE SAIL ABOARD
1893 SCHOONER LETTIE G. HOWARD

Saturday, October 9, 2004 - 9 am to Sunday October 10 - 9 am
Schooner Lettie G. Howard
Pier 16 at South Street Seaport Museum

Have you ever fantasized about climbing a ship's mast and setting off
for an adventure at sea? Enjoy a once-in-a-lifetime experience
spending 24 hours aboard our 1893 schooner Lettie G. Howard – a
Gloucester fishing schooner that typifies the type of ship that
carried fish catches to the Fulton Fish Market. Become a crew
member-in-training and learn the skills of a traditional mariner while
taking on the real life challenges of wind, weather, and the ship
herself. Trainees stand watch, handle sail, navigate, steer, work in
the rigging and experience a unique opportunity to learn about the
maritime world first hand.

Fees: $175 per person for museum members, $195 per person for
non-members (for information about museum membership call
212.748.8690). Fee includes three meals. Participation on the
overnight sail is limited to a very small group. For reservations
call 212.748.8786. PARTICIPANTS MUST REGISTER BY SEPTEMBER 27, 2004.
