Stunning Weather and Sailing
The last couple of days on the LIS have been fantastic, clear skies and steady wind. Yesterday Suzanne wanted to swim. She could have the baby at any time, so we sailed with two friends and towed the dinghy, now sporting a 9.9. Afterwards we ran into our friend with the Tayana 48 DS, who was shorthanded. We decided to go out with him for two hours and enjoy the sunset. Suzanne is so beautiful now....and along with the weather, the sailing and our eagerly awaited son...a stunning evening. http://hometown.aol.com/bobsprit/images/tay4.jpg RB |
hey, she really is glowing - good luck with everything!

That's great! Keep calm and let us know when it happens.
Best wishes to you both. Nav. Bobsprit wrote: The last couple of days on the LIS have been fantastic, clear skies and steady wind. Yesterday Suzanne wanted to swim. I've very calm. She's a bit worried about the pain; not sure what to expect. We had another short sail today, which keeps her relaxed. RB |
pain?

gf. (steve--pearson 30 #840) Hey, Steve...sure. We keep Alien there and sail a bunch of the boats around. It's been a great summer overall, but next season will be better I think. RB |

Good Luck Nutsy,
Better for SUSY!!! I've been praying for you and the Boy, every night. My birthday is coming close. Sept 8. Wonder how close you're going to be, He And You. You are looking just beautiful Susy. Ole Thom P/S Nutsy, Keep me posted |

perhaps you've run into him-Eli.. stop by---i should be around this weekend. Sure, gave him some help when he had block problems and such. He has a late model Oday 35. Not a bad boat and perfect for his use. Big jump from the smaller Oday he had. RB |

Ole Thom P/S Nutsy, Keep me posted I will certainly post the good news. We're sailing with a couple of friends today, but it will be a short, short distance sail. I don't want her to go into labor in the middle of the LIS, fast dinghy or not. RB |

Is that the same dark-hulled one that a few weeks ago decided to take
down its sails and drift in the middle of an on-going race near Can 1 near Exec. Rocks while pretending not to notice the inconvenience caused to the racers? I doubt it. But you might wonder why a boat would do so such a thing. Did anyone contact her to see if there was a problem? I only ask because a big DS Hunter with a dark blue hull had a medical emergency a few weeks back and was trying to hail a race committee boat near there, but had to wait until a guy in a powerboat helped out. The boat I referred to was a black or maybe very dark-blue Tayana 48,
not a Hunter, with lolling/grinning people on it not evidently in distress. I am certain that you saw a Hunter DS which is about the same size. She was near execution rocks. I heard her distress call from my club. The Tayana wasn't sailing at the time as she had no headsails. The Hunter from Jersey City complained long and hard about it when he got to Harlem Yacht Club. Dispite your effort to troll, you now know what happened. A lady on board had a ruptured cist and was in agony. They dropped sail and called for help. Quite a few race boats around and no one lifted a finger. If you were among those boats SHAME ON YOU. Ask around if you think this is a story. Just about everyone on City Island, Douglaston and Bayside heard about it. RB |

. . . as she had no headsails . . . .
. . . and the boat to which I referred, correctly, as a very dark-hulled ayana 48 did not have any sails up at the time and, No, she was not sailing, was not in use and remained in her slip while UK repaired her head sails. The boat you saw was a vessel which had dropped it's sails for a reason. You were close enough to see "smiling faces" but you did not attempt to hail her? I see. I can't wait to relate this story to Mike at Harlem Yacht Club. I hope you did well in the race. RB |
If on another day and time someone on that boat had a medical
emergency, so be it. I have every reason to believe they are one in the same. A large Deck Salon vessel with a dark hull dropped her sails while passing a race and called for help. No one in the race provided aid. A powerboat got to her and relayed the sick passenger to port. The owner reported that he was smack in the middle of a race and no one had their radios on or was responding, even though several boats passed VERY CLOSE. He waved at them. They waved back! There is not another Tayana DS48 in the area and my friends was not sailing for nearly 10 days. Seems pretty clear to me. RB |
