| I would be upset if it was the America's Cup. I don't
| care much about the Olympics, except this:
|
| I have to agree, Bart. Since allowing pro athletes, the whole concept

has
| lost its luster. Those days when the little guy--the poor, unsponsored

Britain)--can

| Long live Avery Brundage.

I concur.....

According to NBC this am, their rating share for any night of the Olympics
so far has not exceeded a 4, and that was for the opening ceremonies. The
events have been more like a 3. Guess others concur as well.

Sports seem to be bottoming out in the USA these days. The NHL (National
Hockey League) is considering dropping a full month from its annual schedule
due to lack of interest. The NBA SHOULD consider the same thing. Only pro
football (with the oblong ball, not the checkered round one) and NASCAR seem
to be holding any fan attention.

A lot of Americans are cheering against their own basketball team this year.
Bunch of spoiled, super-rich prima donnas, they are. And they play some
half-assed street-style game that isn't competitive against the better
organized national teams from elsewhere.

But what goes around comes around. Things will probably change over the
next decade, unless the pro athletes do something stupid like another
baseball strike.
