Assuming that's true, which it isn't, then why drill at all?
It makes no sense. A much better solution is to improve the fuel efficiency of cars. That alone would have dramatic changes in our dependence on foreign oil. We need to move away from an oil-based dependency, and as typical capitalist entities, the oil companies are spending big $$ for research just along those lines. They *know* that oil is a limited resource and that the prices will probably continue to rise over time. They're hedging their bets quite rightly. Your comments smack of right-wing tactics, which have little or nothing to do with the realities of the situation. Totally fear-based, must worse than any tree hugger as you put it. In article , SAIL LOCO wrote: Like Bush and Cheney who would have us drill in the Alaskan wilderness preserve, or like their friends in the oil industry, or riding around in AF1 or AF2 back and forth to Crawford instead of taking care of business. Read up man. The amount of space that's desired in Alaska for drilling amounts to a pin prick on a basketball court. Typical tree hugger scare tactics.
