What kinda emergency rudder system do you have?
Compass is out too . .. all you have is yourself and your skills Don't limit your self to one spot on the globe. The first part applies everywhere, the second applies to US ships only. You aren't, we are. This one is actually humorous to some extent. When we were inspected everyone knew what level we were at but since we didn't know the inspectors particular definition got a black mark in the copy book. I know of three systems so far but there may be more. Try again....... "Nav" wrote in message ... Michael wrote: Bart yougotta assign the question number andthe points. First one: You are out sailing (your own boat) put the rudder over and find out you don't have one. What do you do? Rig the emergency rudder system Second One: Out of sight of land you find out your GPS, Radar, Radio(s), Sextant, and any other mechanical, electric, or electronicnavigational means (presuming you have them to begin with) quit working. What do you do - first, second, third etc? What do you have to fall back on? How do you navigate to a safe landfall? Does this include the compass? If so, make a new one and sail the latitude to land. Third one: What distance do you maintain from a) large freighters or tankers underway and b) government ships underway or anchored/docked? This question depends on where they are. In the Panama you don't get alot of choice for example. Fourth One: Overseas we have Threat Condition Levels. In the US you all have the color code system. What new system applies to all vessels afloat when did it take effect? Never heard that one. Are we at war? Cheers |
