Stone with rope attached used as an anchor. The Killick Knot which is what
tipped me off is the one developed to attach said rope to said stone to make
up the ground tackle.

Not to worry dear dear Katy. Ladies first. I'll spot you an even five
minutes head start on each and every one AND add in the time zone
difference. . . . After all you and I are probably still the only ones who
know the Great Lakes are really 'seas' and why, and how all that started
years ago on good ole .asa. I takes care of me friends!

Katy,

This one has been posted for a while.

However, you have a good point.

I don't have a good solution.

Should I ask people to email me the answers and not post them?

I don't think so. I feel it is better to have a record of the solutions,
and the sometimes great sidewise topics that spin off, are worth
far more than the simple questions I pose.

I would like to see more detailed answers, instead of links that
will be dead before much time has passed. So I often cut and
paste those into the record.

Perhaps I should offer 1 point for a short answer, and 2 pts
for longer answers, and big bonus points for answers rich in detail.

What do you think?

Or I could ask the ladies to tie Michael up and keep him
occupied.

Thanks for that extra bit of knowledge! I'm going to spring it on my former
US Navy friends on the freighter! Excellent!

In the Royal Navy, a Killick is an older word for a small stern anchor,

now
used for any Leading Hand because of the fouled anchor badge worn on the
sleeve.

1 pt for you Michael.

A Killick could also include a few pieces of wood
in addition to a stone, for extra bite.
