I've seen Jax going backwards in a race.

I have seen Bob sailing -- with his girls -- in winds of 30+, and gusting

That's true. We've never not gone out due to heavy winds, which has been a
mistake on two occasions.

we were the last to anchor and the first to up anchor. The wind failed from
the north and recovered from the south. The few that didn't anchor were set
north with the current.

No, he was on my boat, and we sailed north under a
full and drawing 1/4 oz spinnaker. That is, until
a front approached and brought rain and 20k wind
from the northwest.
