The "tail" of a Manta??? Maybe the reef Joe... but the "tail"..???

Why do you think she had a top or bottom? This was Black's Beach
in the early 70s.

Oh Ok that explaines it. Been there in the early 80's while stationed
in San Deigo. Had a lovely little lady that loved to show off at the
time. Also lost my Navy gold ring on the cliffs carrying a keg down to
the beach.

I was there from 73 to 80... a nice seven years. A couple of women
I met, I met for the first time when they were naked... didn't recognize
them when they put there clothes on... still friends with a couple of them.

I didn't want to get in the water, but the locals told me to
"shuffle my feet" in the water and they would leave. Seemed a bit strange
to me...

We had to do that this April when we went to Fort Myers....they lay on the
sand in shallow water sunning themselves and they blend in...they're really
rather benign but if you get whipped by the tail it's quite painful, even
from a little one....

Thats all that hit me when he shot off. We were 140 feet + above the
reefs. His tail or the leading edge of the tail was what hit me. We
rode them all the time. It was something to see them go under a LCM
that has a 12 foot beam and see his wings on both sides of the boat.
Deigo was a paradise beyond belief you could see 300 feet down below
the surface with ease. It kinda sad to here from Michael how much the
atoll has been developed.
