Well, Well, Well....Joe's Boat
Joe answered the challenge like a man and promptly e-mailed me current pics of his boat....which appear to match the old one. http://hometown.aol.com/bobsprit/images/redcloud.jpg Looks better than the average Beneteau, wouldn't you say? Hopefully, Joe will be forthcoming on the details of this interesting vessel RB |

How about my boat? It's a Cal 20. It's designed for the SF bay and environs.
It's perfect for my use. I have free access to larger boats for the SF bay to near coastal destinations, e.g., Monterey, Bodega. If I want to go somewhere else, I charter or do a delivery. What I was talking about is you "protecting" yourself from pirates with your shields. I thought maybe you button up at night in the tropics just to be safe. Either that or you pray a lot. -- "j" ganz @@ www.sailnow.com "Joe" wrote in message om... "Jonathan Ganz" wrote in message ... Yeah me to, if I want access to lets say a 1600 ton boat, towing a million ton rig I will take a delivery job as well. But i perfer to just you my boat, it perfect for crusisng anywere on earth. What I was talking about is you "protecting" yourself from pirates with your shields. I thought maybe you button up at night in the tropics just to be safe. No, just keep a 24 hour watch if needed. I did think about gun slots in the shields but decided against it. Either that or you pray a lot. No dont pray much at all, who needs to pray for protection when you can protect yourself. They say god help those who help themselfs so Id rather spend time at a gun range than on my knees praying. Joe -- "j" ganz @@ www.sailnow.com "Joe" wrote in message om... I think that either English is a second language for you or
your IQ is even lower than we thought. I suppose you keep a 24-hour watch in the BVI also. From your perspective, I guess that makes sense. I think you missed the mark by not putting slots in the shields. It would have added to the boat's attractiveness to pirates. Well, you brought up being on your knees. Haven't you seen 'The Perfect Storm' movie? Yes I have, Please read responce to OZ below Scotty S/V Lisa Marie Balt. MD USA Ozone layer wrote You carry spare wing nuts in your wetweather gear in case you drop all of them as you hold onto the "steel shields" while hanging on to the boat in a storm, while trying to screw the wing nut on with your free hand? Why yes I do! Thanks for asking. But im smart enough to keep up with the weather and sea state. I will mount the shields well before they are needed, I will not wait to be in the thick of it before I mount them. Most likey just after hoisting the storm jib, dousing the main and reefing the mizzen I will mount the shields. Thats one reason I thought they screwed the reputation of the capt of the Lisa marie(?)in the Perfect Storm. Waiting till the wind was 80knots and the boards flying away like that, Any person expecting the type of weather he was going to see would mount the shields asap, not wait till he was in the thick of it. That and they had him turn to ride with the seas, made a big deal of it, and the wave that wipes him out comes strait at him (Flick Flub) and several other things like the stabilizer birds poppin out of the water and flying about. It was all for the lubber viewers to get excited about, but in doing so the film maker discraced the skipper by making him look like a lubbery skipper with no true skills or knowledge of his vessel and its capabilitys.
