Long Distance - Reach Out and Touch Someone! Unless they have a splinter shield. Heavy Autos are intrinsically weak at long ranges.... no matter how much lead they can deliver in a minute. I'd pick them off at 500 meters with a 338 Win Mag .... never mind a .50 cal Barnett Semi Auto at 2000 meters. Doubt it. A 30 BMG is remarkably accurate and that design dates back to (IIRC) 1917. The 50 BMG is not a lot worse tho I've never had the pleasure of playing with one. You're not on a range now; I've shot over a spotlight from the back of a utility 4WD for many years and it's damn hard to hit things when they're moving one way, you're moving another and you have one shot at a time. You can't spot the fall of shot easily at sea esp through a scope. Long odds if you didn't get a first shot hit, the MG guy would walk a burst right arcoss the boat. They have tracer. Us Aussies and you Canucks don't have to worry about such stuff, tho. All we need to do is fly a NZ flag and pirates will know we have nothing worth stealing. Demeaning, but if you can fake the accent you're home. PDW |
