Wow! That's a 12,000 mile backpedal! Don't hurt yourself, Nav.

You're the one who said "You do know she's motoring?" Are you claiming that
because there's a tow boat a mile or so away she's actually motoring? Nav,
You're Nutz!

You're showing your ignorance yet again, Navvie.

The USS Constitution does not have an engine.

No kidding? I guess that means they won't need your 'sailing' expertise.
But the engine is on another boat that always shadows her.

Dead wrong, nav. I was there. She was free of her tow lines.

Admittedly, it
was the first time in over 100 years, and may be the last, but she was

sailing
on here own, without a tow, for about an hour.

Sorry jeff I don't see how anything I posted was wrong -unless you are
denying the motor boat -her primary source of propulsion was not in
attendence.

There is a reason why spending money on a full set of sails would be futile.

It was sad that she was lost as a result of poor seamanship but at least
I helped build the new one...

Hey Joe,

I think the Constitution should be sailed from port to port and put
on display evey year, instead of sitting at a dock. It's not much
better than Victory in permament dry dock--A sad state for a ship
of the line.

I'm embarassed to say that even Ole Ironsides, athough sailing, does
not have full suit of sails. We could do better for her too.

She's clearly cared for properly, still a US Navy ship of the line.

Which facts, that you're nuts? Or that you know practically nothing
about ships & sailing? Don't worry, those facts have been out in the
open for a long time.

What's the matter Doug, upset that she doesn't have a motor for you to
play with?

I didn't know they were hiding. Are you trying to replace Booby? You seem to
be adopting his style.

Just wanted people to realize a) How badly she has been looked after in
the past so that it won't happen again and b) that's she's not seaworthy
(and never will be). If the powers that be (or silly romantics) get
carried away with the idea of her becoming a sail training vessel she
will be likely lost -regardless of an ever present attending tug.
