I don't think he'll be able to get that
much for a used outboard engine.

If the guy gets his asking price, it means he "only" spent $16,000, plus the
sales tax on the original price, plus operating expenses to use his boat for
100 hours in seven years, or about $250 per hour for about 15 hours each year.
I bet you could get laid for that kind of money, and have your choice of hair
color and breast size.
