Went to the Grand Rapids Boat Show last night....it's a mixed breed =
show, with tons of power and a paltry representation of sail. We looked =
in particular at a Beneteau 38, a Catalina 38, a Hunter 41, and a Hunter =
35. There sure is a lot of plastic in them thar Hunters...and that =
traveler arch....ugh....ugly. I hate to say it but the Catalina was the =
best boat viewed. Beneteua, my favoritest in the past, has lowered =
their quality. I would not have traded any of the boats viewed for =
Chanteuse. The boat that I actually fell in live with was a Com-Pac =
Picnic Cat.....sweet little thing...pricey, though. Didn't even bother =
looking at the power things...

Horass loves the arch. It reminds him of his wire-support brazier.

That would be a very fair and reasonable assumption.

Well, they had SOME sailboats. In Detroit they have zip. They have an
outdoor show in the summer with sail, that's all.

So, in the summer do you guys sail North up towards the confluence of the
lakes. Or must I sail South and then North once again? No way I can pass
up meeting another .asa original! To date I've met in person Paul, Thom,
and Doug. I determined that the Great Inland Seas to St. Lawrence to
Hudson, with a side trip to Connecticutt, to Chesapeake, to ICW route will
garner a lot more and put me at the top for meeting .asa people in person.
Then of course I have to wander off to England, Sweden and back to
Australia. Not only do I have relatives with a no charge mooring dock in Oz
but I owe Oz Sailor for the miss from last time.

I'm counting I think six or seven from .asa just in the US and Canada plus
five from the Lats and Atts group, plus five from the Westerly Owners and a
couple more from the Cruising World group. Should be a productive voyage.

Now I have three days to go roughly on vacation so I'm sitting back and
enjoying life. Then it's rust busting time once again. Going through
Heathrow this time. Funny thing in one of my merchant marine buddies from
the east coast is going to the same ship. But he's flying west through LA
and I'm flying Seattle to England? Go figure?

To get back on track . . .Katy! the reason you didn't look at the power
thingies (Katyspeak for stinkpotters) is they remind you so much of my
reason number four! Oooohie Yuckie!
