I thought I would come to this group hopefully to learn a few things about sailing, but there are a few individuals who have nothing better to do with their lives but post a lot of bull****. Are there any other sailing discussion groups out there that are monitored and policed to keep dumb ass's like Bobspit off of them.

Tom, you won't find a single negative or nasty comment from me here anymore. I
leave that to others. Most of the recent posts from Bobsprit are fakes. Check
the headers. You'll find that there are actually only a few people here who
never discuss sailing. I won't name them. Feel free to START a thread on
sailing before complaining about content. I think you'll be surprised at the
info available. If you can't take the heat here (and there's nothing wrong with
that) you could try the cruising NG which has a large databank of sailors on
hand.

There are indeed such groups as you seek.
I know of a few good newsgroups and forums... some are so good that people
(including myself) use thier real names and even post under genuine e-mail
addresses!
Alas we would be foolish indeed to say where they are....
Bobspit etc aint showed up on them yet and we would not want to tell him
where to look.

I'm a on several lists (which I won't name!) on Sailnet. I had a single problem
when two people here decided to follow me there and start flaming. I simply
outlasted them and continue in good standing.
Sorry, John. I make no trouble on sailing lists and appealed to Scotty and
Steve to not bring Alt.Sailing.Asa wars to other "serious" groups. Steve
listened and rarely posts and Scotty never posts or left.
