Reasons? TO WATCH TV, movies.

As others pointed out, there is no time watching movies during a long
cross. Granted, if you're in an harbour for a long time you _might_
occasionaly want to watch TV. However, a salty environment does damage
electronical equipment, even a TV. (which is a laptop, according to
you). Then there's the problem of possible damage in heavy weather,
and it will use valuable space you need for really important things.
This is my opinion about carrying a TV, not a claim that blue water
sailors never carry one. (read this 10 times, please)

I've never watched TV underway? I'd guess few would, but that's not what's
being debated. You questioned why a "blue water" sailor would carry a TV at
