Yep, I find it depressing to think that we have now got video game screens showing real people being killed. OTOH, it was nice of them to put that guy out of his misery (IMHO). From the looks of it, he was in bad shape and not anywhere near likely to get good medical care. It also made me wonder what those people were doing and why the Army had a chopper watching them. He might have welcomed the chance to die for his beliefs, or he may have been enough of a realist to say to himself, "Self, you've just been gut shot with depleted uranium and engine parts. You have major wounds on at least two extremities including broken bones. You are going to bleed to death in the near future. Self, you are in great agony and this is just the beginning. Although you can only hope for 3rd world first aid, even if you were, right this second, being rushed to a major metropolitan trauma center and are tough enough to survive, Self, you will be severely crippled and disfigured for life." Of course, compared to your every day life Bubbles, maybe the guy wasn't so bad off. DSK |

You may be right there, he may just have had his eardrums ruptured, but at the very least he'd probably soon get cancer and die from ingesting all the depleted uranium dust that was flying about. It seems pretty likely to me that he stopped a lot of debris from the truck he was hiding under. I'm not trying to make a long-distance medical diagnosis but the guy was dragging himself along the ground and looked pretty badly hurt, leaving a thick trail behind him among other things. A friend looking over my shoulder says he was already stopped moving (dead?) when they shot him the second time. BTW the Army says it is not using depleted uranium any more... I wonder how true that is? Those bullets look like they went right through those trucks like wet tissue. DSK |

What were 'metal piercing bullets' made from before? My 30-06 Springfield
(military model) came with some clips full of MPBs. Scotty "DSK" wrote in message ... Cheers Marty Marty depleted uranium is saved for bigger things than trucks. Mostly found on tanks. Typical DU round has to cost a couple of grand. If your gonna spend that kind of money on a few cut throte murders running in fields you might as well vaporize the whole bunch with a hellfire missle. If you do not want to be killed in a field by someone you can not see, you should not be running around with weapons used to kill the guy who just killed you. You follow me? How do you think the average man in the back of a helo hit by a RPG feels when he's spinning to the ground about to die? And the rat that shot the RPG runs down his rat hole to strike another day. You may well be correct about the cost of the round, however the average soldier doesn't usually pause to consider the cost of the ordnance, and if he did he probably wouldn't care. Armed forces have never had a great image of being misers with the taxpayers money. Further, could you tell me how you would select a different round for the 30 mm chain gun on an Apache, you shoot what you were armed with. Probably moot anyway if Doug is correct and DU has been withdrawn. If your gonna spend that kind of money on a few cut throte murders running in fields you might as well vaporize the whole bunch with a hellfire missle. I don't know why they didn't do just that, I have an uneasy feeling that they were having fun, like at a video arcade. If you do not want to be killed in a field by someone you can not see, you should not be running around with weapons used to kill the guy who just killed you. You follow me? How do you know for sure that was a weapon? Maybe they were just farmers going to install some new drainage tile in the ditch? Cheers Marty |

Excellent footage. The gunship must have been in silent hover mode. Those
victims "blowed up" real good! I've got Jane's LongBow Cobra game to practice with but it never provides people to shoot at... only air/ground vehicles and installations. I wonder if they have any footage of "Friendly Fire" exercises? I mean they must practice considering how good they are at it!! With all that technology how could you make a mistake?
