And the Z1 can also shoot up to 10 FPS!!
It can also (how many can do this??) shoot 30 FPS 640X480 movie mode with 8 minutes continous video on a 512 card! Or nearly an hour at low res with sound! On my big screen TV it looks like VHS camcorder footage....smooth and clear! How about a LCD with a 60 FPS refresh rate? How about the fastest AF system on the market? How about one of the best flashes tested, even against 800 dollar sony and Nikon!? How about a startup time of 2 seconds!? Weaknesses? Sure. Construction is not even close to the G5. Lens is good but not great, though very sharp. I don't love the little musical rifts it plays, though they can be shut off. I can't wait for a 5 or 6 MP version of this baby! RB |

It's resolution is useless unless you have a very high end printer. Nice camera though. RB |

That is an exceptionally stupid comment. Until now, I thought that this might
be one topic that you at least knew something about, but I guess not. If all you intend to do is send the pictures directly from the camera to the printing service at Wal-Mart, you might be right, but if you have any intention of cropping and processing, the extra pixels are a boon. I thought there might be a downside to going up to 5 Meg on my G5, but I haven't found it yet. "Bobsprit" wrote in message ... I'd buy the new 8 mega pixel Sony. be one topic that you at least knew something about, but I guess not. Jeff, I am selling my G5. I already sold the G2. They both excel on manual settings, but fall short on automatic and always had focus issues. The manual focus on both is poor. With the Speedlite, they are much better, but that's a lot to carry around. Wanna explain how 8MP makes a diff on the average HP or Epson photo printer? There was NO visible diff between prints in the G2 and G5, unless extremely cropped. And the 10X zoom on the new breed of cameras just makes them far more flexible. RB |

If you had been a little more careful were you dipped your wad, you
wouldn't have Herpes. Dang! Scotty used to be clever enough to avoid getting the door slammed on his nose. He's just too bitter and angry now. A Siedlemann will do that to ya! RB |

... How much cropping do you need? That's a stupid question. As much as you can get, until you run out of optical quality. You can never tell where the picture really is - more pixels gives you more opportunities. A longer Zoom retains full resolution with less cropping. I'd rather have the same possibilities with "digital zoom," framed after the fact. Its pretty clear you're just a snapshot shooter, so you probably made the right choice. RB |
