Santa, Smanta!
Everyday is Christmas with Goerge W. Bush in the White House! Everyone gets a piece of the ever growing government pie! Free pills, tarriffs, pork, you name it! Sorry, Santa Bush is not giving more freedom this year, or next year or ever. Quaff a few government pills and it won't feel so bad. Don't worry - your kids and grandkids that survive the war will be paying for it! OB |

I didn't get a single thing other than a couple
lame Christmas cards. So, I biked to West Marine today and bought myself a new handheld GPS. I ended up getting the Standard Horizon Magnum 40. It doesn't have mapping features like the Magnum 50 but is only cost $179 vs. $299. It comes with a PC cord that allows it to input it's position to my laptop on which I have digital charts and the Cap'n and Offshore Navigator programs. (all bootlegged, of course) One thing the Standard Horizon has that no other handheld I researched is a THREE YEAR Warranty. Take that, Bobsprit! S.Simon I figured out why I don't get presents for Christmas. Why by stuff when it's so easy to get most stuff free? S.Simon "Bobsprit" wrote in message ... What did everyone get??? I'll think about you snowed in up there in the hinterlands playing with your trains and hoping for a thaw. S.Simon |

My mapping Garmin mapping 76 was free (a gift), has a 3 year REPLACEMENT warranty. Why be sorry. Somebody paid extra for that three- year replacement warranty which is really just an insurance policy. It means nothing other than some fool paid for what I got free from a manufacturer who is willing to stand behind his unit for three years. This should tell you something. It should tell you the manufacturer expects his unit to hold up for AT LEAST three years of use whereas Garmin's paltry one-year warranty says they believe their units are good for AT LEAST one year. Hahah a hahah ah ha h ah ha! You get what you pay for. If some fool wants to buy as a gift an inferior unit and then pay extra to insure it then it just goes to show your friends are almost as ignorant as you are. S.Simon |

Horvath asked:
What kind of sword? I've got plenty of swords. My favorite is an authentic samurai sword, with an engraved and painted dragon handle. I did some touch up on the handle myself. Most people would call it a "katana." Gendaito, shinken, and a whole buncha other Japanese words are all appropriate; but katana pretty much describes it accurately. But why do I suspect you're ****ing with me? I'm a practitioner, not a collector; but I don't think "authentic" samurai swords have engraved and painted dragon handles. Those are usually reserved for cheap Chinese or Indonesian knockoffs made with stainless steel blades, commonly referred to as "wall hangers." No reputable dojo would ever allow the use of such a sword. If there is such a thing as an historic katana with a carved dragon handle, you've certainly harmed its value by doing your own touchup on it. And if you're not ****ing with me, I apologize for my cynicism. I'm just *very* excited about it and maybe a bit defensive, given that my wife occasionally reminds me that we could have bought a new car instead. Frank |

Garmin's paltry one-year warranty says they
believe their units are good for AT LEAST one year. Since a Kia has a ten year warranty and the Toyota camry just 3....then by your logic the Kia is better? Neal, you just been handed your ass again...and it was you! BWahahahaha! Stomp! RB |

Yes, that's a valid assumption when it comes to the drive train which the long warranty covers. It doesn't mean the Kia is a better car overall but it does mean the manufacturer is building the parts that are warranted for such a long period of time to last that period of time. Bwahahahahhahah!
