dock lines

I have no use for dock lines - those are for lubbers.

So, if Neal has no dock lines:

He is unable to hit a dock for supplies or to make repairs.
He is unable to tie up anywhere that doesn't have moorings.
He is unable to throw a line, if he or another boat require assistance.

Dock lines are basic and an absolute must aboard a boat. Neal says they are for
lubbers, so he must not have them. OR he's lying, and claims that he cruises,
but never pulls up to a dock for supplies or takes a slip.
Of course he HAS dock lines and uses them. IMHO he plugs that yellow banana in
to a courtesy dock whenever he can. So is Neal a liar, lubber or BOTH??!!

Hoooh ahhhh!

I am telling the truth when I say I have no dock lines.

Dock lines are not necessary and I'll tell you why.

Simply don't stop at any dock that doesn't provide
lines of their own. Any business that doesn't provide
the necessary lines to tie up at their place of business
is not worth giving your business too.

The last time I tied up to any dock was over a year
ago in Marsh Harbour in the Bahamas. This was
to purchase water and gasoline. They had dock lines
fitted for their customer's use.

And, another thing, if one 'throws' dock lines one
is acting in a lubberly manner. Real sailors sail
up the dock and as their vessels lose way and
come gently to a stop alongside about a foot off,
they step off their boats onto the dock, grab one
of the dock lines provided and tie off to a cleat.

So, as you can see, the conclusions you drew were
wrong because they are based upon ignorance of
how things operate in the real world of cruising
sailors.

Anyone want to explain to poor Neal why most marinas won't handle their "own"
dock lines?
Neal, you really made an ass of yourself this time!

ALL cruising sailors carry dock lines. You don't because you don't sail, let
alone cruise!

Hmmm... well, they do at our gas dock and the haulout dock. We don't
have a real guest dock with people waiting on you, so there's nothing to
handle.

All the marinas I've been to have their own dock lines at the fuel dock .
