Actually, we're the most productive workers on the planet.
Yep, but only because you work more hours/head than others. Dollar output per hour worked is behind many others. Prove it. This is just more venal wishful thinking on your part. |

"There are lies, damned lies, and statistics ... "
By saying "Dollar output per hour worked is behind many others" you've distorted the truth. Here's the table from the original study. Go down to Figure 18b: http://www.ilo.org/public/english/em...ilm/kilm18.htm It is true that four countries are slightly more productive per hour than the US (Norway is the only one significantly higher), that hardly represents "many others." The US leads by far when measured "per person employed." Capetanios Oz wrote in message ... On 13 Nov 2003 09:45:56 GMT, (SkitchNYC) wrote: Actually, we're the most productive workers on the planet. Still pretty good numbers, I'd have thought the US and Oz to be much lower on the list, guess automation etc plays a big part in productivity. From up close, it looks like we're all lazy sots, eh? But take heart, we're not smacked down yet. BTW I read the article on caffiene and dehydration... it was interesting that somebody has done research on caffiene habituation and it's diuretic properties. Here's an interesting article (well, I thought so anyway) on a similar topic http://www.straightdope.com/mailbag/msal****er.html Fresh Coffee- Doug King |

FYI, blood cells don't carry excess salt to the kidney and salt is not
metabolized. Cheers MC DSK wrote: Capetanios Oz wrote: Still pretty good numbers, I'd have thought the US and Oz to be much lower on the list, guess automation etc plays a big part in productivity. Pay some attention to what shower products are being used or you may
start loading up your soil with nasty stuff -like acrylamide and metals. Yep, I drink about 2-3cups of espresso a day so it really isn't a problem. At sea that goes up quite a bit, maybe killing time, maybe a little boredom but my water comsumption remains pretty normal ie, no dehydration. With that in mind, I was interested to read that report which explains why contrary to the myth. Here's an interesting article (well, I thought so anyway) on a similar topic http://www.straightdope.com/mailbag/msal****er.html Ah yes, I've seen similar before. My Chem teacher in high school was a sailor and explained the process during a lecture on osmosis, cell structure and membranes natural and synthetic. Fresh Coffee- Doug King BTW we are on strict water restrictions here, no washing of cars/boats/hard surfaces, no garden sprinklers etc. Our consumption has risen with drought and expansion of the population so storage just can't cope. Much talk on reuse of grey water, recycling of black water with a turn around of around 2 years before it reaches our taps again, And desalination though the consensus is that it uses way to much energy to be practical. Will be interesting to see what eventuates. I'm renovating a bathroom used by my kids and am having the pipework from theit shower and bath run into a tank for reuse flushing toilets, watering gardens and maybe washing cars/boats. Will be interesting to see how it works. Oz1...of the 3 twins. I welcome you to crackerbox palace,We've been expecting you. |
