Donal,
You're absolutely correct about a 25 yr old boat is NO comparison to a new boat. Poor Nutsy will always remain a LOSSER if he continues to compare " Derelict" to anyone with a new boat. I hope some day he will feel the joy of ownership of a factory fresh, brand new vessel. Even the most uninformed purchaser knows a new car is of greater value than a used model of the same manufacturer. The market value is the perfect visual example of value. When you consider present function of a sailing vessel; NEW is better than OLD. The only time an Old boat, car, house, etc is worth more is of a collectors item. Not as a functional, usable thing AND; "I'LL DRINK TO THAT!" Ole Thom |
