How about a new boat vs a 25 year old boat? or something like that?

Now that's just plain cruel.

I think that we should refrain from pointing out that Bob hops from one old
stepping stone to another, slightly better, old stepping stone.

You mean like my vastly superior 34XL built in 1993, launched in 94 with a suit
new sails that cost 1/3 of your boats value??!!!

Bwahahahahaha!

So the sails are worth twice as much as the boat???

Donal,

You're absolutely correct about a 25 yr old boat is NO comparison to a
new boat.

Poor Nutsy will always remain a LOSSER if he continues to compare "
Derelict" to anyone with a new boat. I hope some day he will feel the
joy of ownership of a factory fresh, brand new vessel.

Even the most uninformed purchaser knows a new car is of greater value
than a used model of the same manufacturer. The market value is the
perfect visual example of value.

When you consider present function of a sailing vessel; NEW is better
than OLD.

The only time an Old boat, car, house, etc is worth more is of a
collectors item. Not as a functional, usable thing

AND; "I'LL DRINK TO THAT!"

Probably the worst advice ever offered here and 100% wrong.
New boats are for suckers, though I'm glad some people buy them.

You just haven't found the right boat yet. If you ever do (which I doubt),
you will understand why everybody else seems to enjoy their boats more than
you.

Have you read Scotty's report? I envy him.

Can you imagine writing a trip report that would make anybody envious?

I hope I never do! That would be pretty dull. I'm only 41, I have no intention
on settling for any single design. If I did, it would not be with one of the
cheapest production boats around. What am I saying? Beneteau IS the cheapest.
And it shows.

Careful, Bobby. You are supposed to be winning, remember?

The whole point of this discussion is to entertain the group with your
hilarious claims that your 30 year old neglected, slow, cheap, slow,
"Derelict" is better than my nice, fast, shiny, fast new boat.
