Beneteau again....!
When you consider present function of a sailing vessel; NEW is better
than OLD. Probably the worst advice ever offered here and 100% wrong. New boats are for suckers, though I'm glad some people buy them. RB |

If you ever do (which I doubt), you will understand why everybody else seems to enjoy their boats more than you. Have you read Scotty's report? I envy him. Can you imagine writing a trip report that would make anybody envious? Regards Donal -- |

I hope I never do! That would be pretty dull. I'm only 41, I have no intention on settling for any single design. If I did, it would not be with one of the cheapest production boats around. What am I saying? Beneteau IS the cheapest. And it shows. RB |

Bwahahahahahaha! You envy that a-hole? Oh, okay! RB |

he will purchase a new Beneteau exactly
because they are comparatively so well built, outside and inside. Snore. Again, ask more than one surveyor. Ask yards who do repairs. Ask around. These boats have a bad rep for a reason, not because someone hates the French! After 7 years of boat shows, every Beneteau I boarded had build quality errors. They were as follows: Loose floors Gel coat cracks Doors that wouldn't close or open Sharp edges in cabinets and other fittings Saw dust beneath furniture installations And so on. I'd like to say that 7 years of seeing these boats was just bad luck, but there are enough of them at my club to prove otherwise. The Oceanis seem to be the worst of the lot. A fellow on the Pearson list had a First (33?) and called it a groaner because the whole boat groaned and creeked when sailed hard. A 39 at my club (new!) has had so many problems that the owner now plans to sell. Beneteau quality concerns have been echoed in nearly every sailnet group, more so than any other boat besides Hunter. Beneteau is well packaged junk. It's designed to fool and does a great job. Dona's been suckered plane and simple. Call it a troll, or just mean...but it's the truth. Not much he can do about it since I own a nice C&C, a builder known for very good quality. Contact the resident surveyors at BoatMax and Consolidated Shipyards for info on major work needed on Beneteau yachts FRESH out of the factory! RB |

The whole point of this discussion is to entertain the group with your hilarious claims that your 30 year old neglected, slow, cheap, slow, "Derelict" is better than my nice, fast, shiny, fast new boat.
