Sheesh . . didn't we do this thread a couple of years ago. I think a couple
of our intellectual wannabes got into it over how base eight works. Or was it over something else? Always something. Let's see . . .if a 60,000 ton dwt freighter with crew of 31 and with 100,000 imperial gallons of fuel travels 12,396 nautical miles against an average head current of 1/2 knot and burns approximately 500 liters of fuel per hour at an average speed of 22.4 (GPS) leaving Hong Kong and traveling westerly to Quebec what time, adjusted for zones did they leave if it took them 27 days to transit the Panama Canal? Bonus Question when did the lettuce and icecream run out? Give answer in base eight of course. MST |
