We test sailed the 34XL (C&C 36) today in 20-25 knots.
The boat is a bloody rocketship! Really fast and responsive with simply great cruising ability below. We topped 10 knots on several occasions without much bother and local rating of 84 really was apparent when we blasted the few boats that were out, including a J29. With every puff the boat seemed to just rear back and charge...a feeling we get on the 32 at times, but this was really fun! Suzanne and I spent an hour below when we got back. The rear bunk is a near perfect fit being 7 feet tall. The cabin is simply beautiful, though I like the 32's nav station a bit better. This boat also has an enclosed shower which is nice. The cockpit is shallow compared to the 32, but was quite comfy for 5 of us. The big wheel had great feel and I had the boat in the groove right away. Running back stays...aaaack! Oh well...This boat is the ticket! Being able to pull a line to adjust the genoa cars was also a nice deal and all of the hardware is top notch! A simply great boat....now...to make the deal and time it right! Capt RB |
