The question was "why do need a tube type analogue preamp with a digital data stream?", could you address that issue please? I just did. Chicago aint the band, it's the movie. You are aware of analogue outs, yes? You can switch between them and a D-Link. As I've found out, it can work wonders. I especially find it helpful on older films. RB let me see if I've got this right, you want the tube amp to make the soundtrack sound better to your ears? Deliberately introducing distortion is a perfectly valid artistic tool that I certainly have no problem with, modern music would not exist without it. However if you are attempting to achieve a rendition that modifies the artists', then you are not truly seeking "HI-FI", but rather creating something new and, hopefully, pleasing to your ears. I guess it depends on your objectives. Thinking further, if you wanted to duplicate the sound in the old movie theatres, then tube would be the way to go indeed, but this hardly applies to "Chicago" (the film, sorry for the missunderstanding but when I think of Chicago, movies do not come to mind, guess I'm dating myself) Cheers Marty (a purist) |
