Nay, it's a crapshoot. I left my boat in it's slip for Isabel and FWIW
relied on doubled-up lines and prayers to Animistic Gods and Goddesses.
Not even the half-cup of coffee SWMBO left on a counter got spilled. Nor
were any of the yachts in slips on that pier or the pier immediately
East damaged. OTOH a 40' motoryacht tied upstream in the creek ended up
on a private dock. Worse, the boats that'd been "wisely" hauled out at
$200+ a pop took a beating when the super-heavy roof blew off a covered
dock maybe 20 yards from my boat and landed on several of them, then a
50' tall metal shed blew out and the debris damaged many more - one
fatally. OTOH The 6x8's supporting that roof were sheared at what'd been
the waterline at the time, leaving the pilings a few feet above the
water, and the next day the powercruisers that'd sheltered inside were
on the pilings and on each other, yet oddly (and luckily) none were
badly damaged when all was said and done. So, ya just never know.

I'm not saying it isn't "common sense" to haul your boat or tie it up a
creek for a hurricane, just that prayer to the right forces apparently
work just as well (c:

I hope Mooron et al fared OK and gets his electric back soon.
