Mooron lives in the next village from me...we have no power (2nd day).....
that's why no response from him.....

Bayside (Mooron's place ) was not hit as hard as Terence Bay...we lost about
3 pleasure boats and about 3 fishing boats....all where run into the
shore....
Some real dramatic stuff here.....I have some great pic's of why you don't
leave your boat tied to a dock in a hurricane....

My brand new seaswirl boat survived...... tied to a new mooring I but in the
bay this year.....

But was almost picked debris....

Right you are. It's common sense to remove your boat from
it's slip or dock and either have it hauled and stored in a
secure place or put it on a mooring in a protected harbor
with as little fetch as possible. Around here people even
put them up a creek and tie them spider web fashion to
the mangrove trees.

Any fool who thinks his boat is safe at a dock during a
hurricane deserves what he gets - severe damage or worse . . .

Remember, it's not usually water and waves that sinks boats,
it's the hard stuff around the edges that does.

Nay, it's a crapshoot. I left my boat in it's slip for Isabel and FWIW
relied on doubled-up lines and prayers to Animistic Gods and Goddesses.
Not even the half-cup of coffee SWMBO left on a counter got spilled. Nor
were any of the yachts in slips on that pier or the pier immediately
East damaged. OTOH a 40' motoryacht tied upstream in the creek ended up
on a private dock. Worse, the boats that'd been "wisely" hauled out at
$200+ a pop took a beating when the super-heavy roof blew off a covered
dock maybe 20 yards from my boat and landed on several of them, then a
50' tall metal shed blew out and the debris damaged many more - one
fatally. OTOH The 6x8's supporting that roof were sheared at what'd been
the waterline at the time, leaving the pilings a few feet above the
water, and the next day the powercruisers that'd sheltered inside were
on the pilings and on each other, yet oddly (and luckily) none were
badly damaged when all was said and done. So, ya just never know.

I'm not saying it isn't "common sense" to haul your boat or tie it up a
creek for a hurricane, just that prayer to the right forces apparently
work just as well (c:

I hope Mooron et al fared OK and gets his electric back soon.

How much does an "electric back" sell for, what are it's advantages over
the old fashioned flesh and bone model?

Cheers

Yup. Can you imagine all 76,000 boats in the upper bay anchored out in
creeks?

Why don't you send him a smoke signal (Canadian wireless) asking if he's OK?

Just go out on the deck and twist the top of a brew, if that sound
doesn't attract him he's dead!
