You are correct. Any reprisal against this child molester cannot be
done. Well, it can , but the potential rath of the authorities will
probably prevent anything happening to this person.

Mostly because the chances of someone who agreed with such a penalty
have a very low cahnce of making onto the jury. If I ended up on
such a jury I'd do my best to play the nice little boy to get on that
jury.
