Full report tomorrow am...too tired now...
But in a nutshell.....sailed to Cold Springs harbor Friday eve, found a good spot with just one other boat a ways off....watched some of The Stand on DVD, woke up....swam...sailed to Oyster Bay to have Lunch with friends (an anniversary for them), then sailed over to Northport...very crowded, so we grabbed a mooring at Centerport Yacht Club. Someone started yelling Alien! Alien! Alien...it was a guy from the C&C list with a C&C 30 called SeaFever. We spoke a bit on shore, then wandered around town. Let me just say that the night aboard Alien with Suzanne was the stuff of fantasy! Simply beautiful....and dinner was good too! Wish I could say the same about sailing-wind conditions which were weak at best. Pics, details and bottom contours to follow! Capt RB |

Bob, when you anchor in Cold Spring Harbor, what's your favorite
location? Cove Neck shore? All the way in by the town? West Neck shore? Hi, Marc, when entering Cold Springs, on your starboard are some very nice homes set into the woods. About 1/4 mile down, past Cove Neck is a bird sanctuary area marked with signs in the water and on the beach...not sure what this spot is called. There is a TINY cove (Laupel or Laurel Hollow?) with a few powerboats slipped there. We generally anchor close to that so we can row in and check out the bird life. We rowed in close, but only saw a couple of Swans and and an African Goose. Great swimming over there...cleaned the bottom a bit. Suzanne swam a mile or more! As for sailing....Suzanne is back at school. She doesn't get home until 4:00 most days, but Thursday may be possible. I'm still hoping we can check out your boat! We saw quite a few Freedom's yesterday between Norwalk and Stamford. They must nest there. RB |

You've said you were going FOUR times and never made it once.
Really? I DARE YOU to show those posts! We said we were going twice, went once. Is Norwalk tougher for you than Thimbles or Port Jeff at night? Bwahahaha! RB |

and it would have been especially fun because of the
Oyster Festival, Uh huh! No one else had the idea of going! There was not ONE spot available on Thursday when Suzanne started to call. We used the VHF on Sat. Morning and even the clubs didn't have a spot. We'd done enough rowing about for the weekend. We had a great time at Centerport and Northport which is further away and more secluded. We even anchored along Eaton's Neck for the sunset, which I highly reccomend. Sorry you're always home, Billy Jane. We're sailing tonight again, then Wednesday, then the whole weekend and on and on. I hope you have the Gold cable package! Bwahahahaha! RB |

There are many other places to
stay. What a dope. We "stay" aboard our boat because we have a livable cabin, not a cubby as in the C&C 27! Still, Norwalk was going to be a parking lot and that's not what we're looking for! It's becoming clear what type of sailor you are. You don't stay aboard. You go to places for events. Yikes! No thanks. RB |
