I resent that! My laptop has a Pentium IIIm with speed-step.
It runs at 733 mhz when loafing and at 1333 mhz when topped out. It's faster than a desktop, 2.0 gigahertz, Pentium IV and uses about half the electricity. If you don't believe it read some back issues of computer magazines. So much ignorance - so little time. S.Simon - the one and only. "Capt. Mooron" wrote in message ... Hey, silly. Those magazines have a cornucopia of software
they run to determine CPU speed. The Pentuim IIIm is faster then a desktop Pentium IV running at the same speed by a significant margin. A Pentium IIIm running at 1333 MHZ beats a Pentium IV desktop chip every time. S.Simon - a sailor who knows CPUs like the back of his hand. wrote in message ... Yes, that about sums up the expertise found in computer mags! Geez, but you are a simp! BB |

Pentium 4 what?
Toshiba P3 is a dinosaur.. what is it a 600 G4... the G5 rocks. Toshiba P3 is new...it's a tablette notebook, dummy! The G5 is crashing Final Cut Pro, so we can't use the bloody thing yet. We'll get one the moment it's up and running. Pentium 4 2.8 from HP (Pavilion) and still in the bloody box. I'll set it up next week. RB |

You both lose. I'm running a PIV 3.06 gig. with 2x200 gig harddisks.
This is my "small" machine, WinTel that it is. "Bobsprit" wrote in message ... Pentium 4 what? Toshiba P3 is a dinosaur.. what is it a 600 G4... the G5 rocks. Metal case? Does that make it better? RB |

This is my "small" machine, WinTel that it is. I flip my machines every 24 months or so, buying mid-pack stuff in most cases. Wasn't trying to win, just show Neal he's well behind. RB |

"Bobsprit" wrote in message ... | I built my own P4 2.5 ... metal case. | | Metal case? Does that make it better? Yes actually ... especially in my climate. The metal allows for better heat dissipation. It acts like a heat sink and draws heat from the CPU allowing it to run cooler. The case is always cool to the touch.. even on hot days. It's the surface area I believe. The 4 fans help as well. I'm running a RAID system and have it overclocked to a slight degree. My friend has a water cooled system on his and runs at very high threshold overclocked speeds. His performance tests are way up there. CM |
