Default Dream Boat?

I would get a decent C&C 36, fix up what needed it,
make some improvements, and bank the rest.

Which 36? The plus/XL/R line?

New or used, what would you buy? You don't have to spend the whole 250K.

The fuel dock, actually. It works out for both of us, since we're gone a lot.

Storage for a cat is a problem, but as a transient at a lot of places, we've only been
charged a minor surcharge a few times.

How is that they don't charge you for a double slip? Are you on
an end tie?

So which boat do you think gives more performance and space and quality

for the money (new
boats please)? She can be single handed up to 12-13 knots with only 540

feet of plain
sail. She has three state rooms, the saloon seats 8 for dinner. 6'3"

headroom
throughout. The cockpit is huge and dry, and you can play volleyball on

the bow. And I
only pay for a 36 footer in the yard!

And the new centerboard version looks like it screams upwind!

I already did - a PDQ 36 Capella. Still no regrets; still my first

choice.

Wouldn't you like just a bit more room and performance?
250K's the limit though/

I'd keep the boat I have, buy a new main, a boom tent, a water maker, a
solar panel abd use the extra 240K for the adventure of it all....

That's not the game, Katy. Your Elite's a fine little boat, but hardly ideal
for liveaboard and long range cruising. Spend some of the 250K. What would you
get? Imagine you DON'T have a boat.

I guess that would work as long as you're not there a lot. Might get
pretty busy and noisy.

An older one... probably mid-80s. I'd rather know what I have
after I fix it.

That would certainly get you the most bang for your $. Or you
could rent a big one and own a small one. I'm thinking about
moving my Cal 20 to a lake near where I live and buying a
29-33 footer for the bay.

Ah, two boats.. either a dream come true or a real life
nightmare!
