Trip Report, August 3, 2003, A Day Sail with Bobsprit and Julia

My only fiascos have been when I am sailing very short handed
(one non-sailor as crew).
My biggest mistake was taking the slip under genoa in the Pearson one day. I
really had it all under control as I made the turn into the slip. At that
moment one of the girls flashed us and I missed the slip, banging into a
finger. No damage done...except to my ego!

Docking under sail is always impressive when done correctly and only
happens when no one is around to witness it
As I learned to sail on
a small scow, usually singlehanded, it was part of a day's sail to
bring the boat back and time everything just right or else...bad
things were sure to follow
I sailed a friend's Flying Scot this
past weekend and got to practice those rusty skills. What fun
Except for the fact that Flying Scot's sail like barn doors, small
boat sailing is great
