Default Last weekend anchored out

Right now we are working on projects ranging from the topsides varnish
to the engine room, but we took time to go out and relax.

I'm not going to say where this is, and I hope that the pic doesn't
really show how nice the anchorage is. Don't want to see crowd there
next time!

A beautiful sunset & a bottle of wine (Caymus Vineyards for those who
are interested), sharing with some boating friends, a very enjoyable
occasion.

My guess would be Broad Creek.

Looks nice Doug, 'cept someone stole your mast.

Did you stay rafted up thru the night?

Doug,
The sailboat rafted on your starboard side looks like an Irwin 37' cc.
Is it an Irwin?

No, what happened was that we had a broach under spinnaker and while experts
advise against it, I eased the boom vang and 90% of the rig broke off and
blew away..............

Yep. Slept like a baby, although it still wakes me up when the boat swings
to a wind or tide shift.

BTW you're right it was in upper Broad Creek (why does the Neuse have two
Broad Creeks??) but don't tell anybody. It's a pretty spot and a secure
anchorage but you need good screens or the mosquitoes suck you dry.

Hey, Doug...

Did you consider a big motorsailor at any point?
That's a pretty trawler in any case.

Yeah but it points really high... 6.5 knots VMG to windward... the spring
lines creak & groan loudly though...

Yes it is. It is a friends boat and he is the gentleman who supplied the
Caymus Vineyards wine.

Cairns & Ganz were just making fun of my boat, saying that the raft-up looked
like a very peculiar trimaran. Or were you joining the game saying "wharram"
because that's the noise the hulls make when the fenders work their way out
from between the gun'ls?

That's too bad, if you were a BIG boat sailor you could have saved it.

I was invited to a raft up, but declined. I'm a little leary of rafting to
other sailboats, thinking about a power boat wake rocking us.
