He had to roll it up to keep it from flapping around in
the headwind created by the iron jenny. That is obvious. There was not enough wind to make it necessary to keep it halfway rolled up in a race with a J-24. I know how fast J-24s are. I race them all the time up on Biscayne Bay were there are some of the world's largest fleets of them. I beat them all the time. They simply are slower than my boat in all but very light winds. I bet that old iron jenny was revved up to max rpms to catch up on and pass that J-24. I don't have to resort to using a motor to overtake and pass them. I do it all the time under sail alone. You should try it sometime - being under sail, that is. Ohhh Cappy now you're just showing how green you really are! Bubbles is reaching down onto the J which is close hauled and badly trimmed, overlaoded and dragging an outboard. The genoa is there just partially rolled...must have been blowing a gale eh?
