Since humans aren't the preferred food source... it's fortunate the shark
recognized that what it took to be a harbor seal was a surfer... or that
dude would be lunch. Awesome photo.... the shark looks to be about a 10 to
12 footer.

Looks big for a dolphin... but the wave probably acts to enlarge the fish
substantially.

Seems to me that the vertical fluke indicates a shark.

It would, but it is hard to tell if it is vertical. You can also almost make
out the sloping forehead of the dolphin. It is not unheard of for sharks to be
in waves like that, however. A surfer buddy who I forwarded it to has seen
such.

Surfers see big sharks from time to time, and occasionally get "taste tested".
They are brave folk!

Would that be just the original three laws or would it include
the later-added "zeroeth" law?

I don't emember that one...ot's been a looong time since I've reread Asimov..should dig them off the shelf again.

Sooooo long that a whole heap of post FOundation & Empire books
came and went. Though some cruel editing would have made them
better.

Original three laws from _i, robot_:

1. A robot may not injure a human being, or, through inaction, allow a
human being to come to harm.

2. A robot must obey the orders given it by human beings except where
such order would conflict with the First Law.

3. A robot must protect its own existence as long as such protection
does not conflict with the First or Second Law.

The "zeroeth law" was introduced, as FT says, in the Foundation
series. I agree that the post-trilogy ones shoulda been mercilessly
edited. It's basically the first law with "human being" changed to
"humanity."
