This is as far as I got with this pathetic thread before
becoming so disgusted that I wretched . . . Women have

Have Katy explain it.

I couldn't possibly do the topic justice. I think the subject calls for

a poetic interlude.

I have to disagree about the homo sapien. If one uses the same classification criteria as paleontologists, each race is a different species.

Species: those organisms potentially capable of interbreeding?

Incorrect definition. It needs to read something like this:

Species: a group of organisms capable of breeding and producing
viable offspring.

Precise you are Simon. However, now the environmentalists have defined species to include living in a different setting. I'll get the details. When you apply these new definitions to humans you'll see that different races are different species.

As far as I got

Then why is the Northern Spotted Owl considered one endangered species, the Mexican Spotted Owl is considered a different endangered species? They can interbreed can't they? The same with squirrels north and south of the grand canyon.
They've even classified the "same" insects as different species just because they live in different floral "oasis" in the lava fields in Hawaii.
Now with such minute differences making species I say that using the same criteria, different human races are most certainly different species. The only questions that remain, what do we name the new species and what are they?

Northern and Mexican spotted owls won't interbreed. The NY Zoological Society
tried for years with poor results,

As far as I got

True, there's also something called sub species.
"Simple Simon" wrote in message ...
Genus
Species
Variety

All they need to do is add variety under species to squelch all the
arguments.

Variety - distinct groups within a species that can breed with other groups
and produce viable offspring with characteristics of both.
