This appeared in the Good Old Boat forum:
Some boat brands generally thought of as poor, or with suspect build quality combined with poor sailing performance and so on... Coronado Yachts (Very cheap) Chrysler Sailboats (Ticon) Siedelmann (Poor build quality) Macgregor (Ultra cheap) Irwin (Poor build quality) Endeavor (eratic build quality) US Yachts (One of the worst) Bayliner (Ugly and cheaply made) Morgan (Eratic build on some models) Hunter (Poor build on some models) Ross, most sailors will agree to stay away from these brands. That's not to say you can't "save" and old Endeavor or even Bayliner. But you'd probably do better to buy a better boat to start with |
