Cool idea but expensive for the limited functions.

With HeathKit we learned to solder, read schematics, identify
components, and sometimes even ended up with a (semi) working guitar
amp, TV, ham radio, or oscilloscope.

Kinda neat, but I agree..... tons of "concepts," but no real
understanding behind the glitz.

If you can get them interested, the understanding can come later. Kids
have a lot of things competing for their attention these days so it's
important to hook them quickly.
