Yes you are, every correction within the turn is accomplished that way.

Leaning by itself is nowhere near effective or fast enough. I've never
seen a rider violently throwing his torso left and right to avoid a
slight handlebar adjustment. (*perhaps* as a last resort in a long rut/berm)

You position your weight on the bike for the best *average* center of
mass for the turn which changes more slowly.

Hey, maybe you should design a custom bike without handle-bars, think of
the weight savings and lower COG.
