Four of seven homicide victims teens

Two male teenagers were shot and killed in separate incidents in the last week, a RedEye analysis of
preliminary police data found.
A 16-year-old boy was fatally shot Saturday in the 6200 block of South St. Lawrence Avenue in
Woodlawn, police said. Three days before, a 19-year-old man was shot to death in the 6400 block of
South Campbell Avenue in Chicago Lawn, according to officials.
Four of the seven homicide victims so far this year were teenagers, RedEye determined as of
Wednesday afternoon.
Last year, about one in five homicide victims was a teenager, according to RedEye data.
Meanwhile, a 27-year-old man was shot to death Wednesday in the 3900 block of West Congress Parkway
in West Garfield Park, police said. A week earlier, a 56-year-old man was fatally shot in the 1700
block of East 72nd Street in South Shore, police said.
Seven homicides have been recorded so far this month. Forty-four homicides were logged in January
2013, RedEye determined.
