Texting Triggers Fatal Movie Theater Shooting
Jan. 13, 2014
An argument between two couples over text messaging inside of a
Florida
movie theater turned deadly today that left one man dead and a woman
wounded.
Police said that two couples began arguing before a showing of "Lone
Survivor" over one couple's text messaging.
A male suspect, whose identity has not yet been released, became
angry
and took out a gun and shot the other couple, according to the Pasco
County Sheriff's office.
"The victim was on his cellphone, he was texting. We believe he was
making some kind of noise. This noise led to an altercation," Sheriff
Chris Nocco said, according to ABC News affiliate WFTS. "During that
altercation, the suspect decided to pull out a .380 and he shoots the
victim."
The sheriff's office said in a statement that an unnamed "good
Samaritan" helped detain the suspect until police arrived.
The two victims were airlifted to Tampa General Hospital, where
the man
was pronounced dead and the woman is being treated for non-life
threatening injuries, according to police.
The shooting occurred around 1:30 p.m. today at the Cobb Grove 16
Theater in Wesley Chapel, Fla., north of Tampa.
Police noted that the shooter and victims did not appear to know one
another.

The shooting suspect is in police custody.
Well, that didn't take long. So much for the new, improved rec.boats.
All my restraint didn't help a bit, did it?
Do we have to give him yet another chance?
Perhaps you should take charge and publish a list of what topics are
allowed here and what topics are not. I thought there was general
agreement to avoid personal name-calling here, and to avoid initiating
partisan political discussions. The post I put up is neither personal
nor partisan political.
It's fine with me if you want this newsgroup to avoid discussions about
firearms and other apparently volatile subjects.
List away.
The title of your post, "Obviously, he was standing his ground.", is
the politically inflamatory part. Do you really not understand that?
Of course you do, or you wouldn't have written it.
So, why not just all refuse to address or answer posts that don't keep
with the *new spirit* of the group.. Just let them die, period. If
someone wants to be responded, make them post like an adult, or be
ignored? Would be easy, and those of us who have the three or four main
name callers plonked, would never see anything but those folks decent
posts?
I mean, we got usenet Gods here who talk about protocol and "spirit",
what's wrong with a little consistency?
Has nothing to do with protocol or spirit. Has everything to do with
acting like adolescents.
