Great story. But the Washington Post has to get in its digs at WalMart.

District, an income of $23,000 puts a family of four below the poverty line."
Family of four? Well, yes - a single mom with three kids, two pre-schoolers and a newborn at 24
years old. One might think she'd be getting some child support from the daddies.

" This was no small thing for Ford, 24, given what Christmas was like

And therein lies the problem: You just can't fix stupid.
Baby daddies rarely pay child support.
Good she has a job, now she has to learn to conserve what she earns.
"I like buying my kids things they never had before,” she said. “I like
that I don’t have to ask people for anything.”
If I were in her position, I'd be shopping at yard sales and Goodwill.
You can often get kids pants and shirts for $0.25 or $0.50.
But the mind set to get ahead is a mind set, if you don't have it or
develop it, chance of change is low.
It's kinda late, but not to late to get her tubes tied. I got mine
tied after two, but my family had two incomes also.
It's a tough situation. Let's find the daddies and make them pay
support, think she would give up the names?
