These "accidental shootings" ought to result in jail sentences for the
shooters, who in many cases are just too irresponsible and trigger
happy. If you shoot someone you don't know who is busting into your
house, you are correct in assuming he or she is up to no good. If you
shoot someone who turns out to be your kid, you shouldn't be playing
with guns.

Someone busted into the house, at 6AM (still dark outside), thru the basement. How the hell was the
owner supposed to *know* it was their kid?

I am a gun guy but I am forced to ask, "how did he know he was in
imminent danger"? Without answering that question in a way that would
convince a reasonable person, he has a good chance of going to jail.



Here's a better question...did he know the person he shot was his
stepdaughter? Here's another...was he stupidly just shooting at the
location of some sort of noise, without knowing what he was shooting at?
You would think that before someone shoots another person under the
circumstances as described in the news story, the shooter would take a
second to determine if the target was friend or foe.

Not as Herring the Racist says, "How the hell was the

By looking at who you are about to shoot, asshole.

Assuming there was enough light to see an asshole!
