I wonder when the word 'Christmas' got removed from the titles for all the boat Christmas parades.
At least the author wished all a Merry Christmas. Nice.

John, I've been searching the scriptures and I'll be darned if I can
find anywhere an admonishment to go forth and light up your boat.
Chuck is probably right about it being a pagan tradition but who
cares?
There's some boating stuff in there, but you're right - no lighting displays that I could find
either. Maybe the generators on the boats were insufficient to power the lights? Who knows.
I'll bet the Vikings put candles all over their boats to celebrate Christmas. That's probably where
the tradition started.
