Typed What is the name for a type of boat that had many long paddles on
the
sides?
It goes back to ancient times, like the ship in Homer's "Odyssey".
Also,
can you suggest a website with pictures, that way it is the kind of ship
that I'm looking for. Please send
me an e-mail response. Your help is
greatly appreciated. Take good care andhave a great day.
I believe the ships that you are looking for are called Biremes and
Triremes.
Both of these ships were used by both the Greeks and later the Romans. I
believe that the difference in these vessels are how many banks of oars it
has
on each side of the craft.
I'd second the bireme/trireme; biremes had two ranks of oars on either side,
triremes had three. I'm thinking that there is probably no universal name
for a "many-oared" boat; thus the Greek variant (the bireme/trireme thing)
is probably as close as yer gonna get...
