I believe I explained last summer that I found the nose part of my boat hook (orange tip) would get jammed as I placed the hook part around the horn of small cleats on the launch rafts, docks etc and pulled myself closer..which changed the angle of the hook to dock and boat.
I really like using the gaff.. no jamb problems.

If this doesn't make things clearer, you two are on your own.


No not really. Before you were talking about dogs, now its cleats. I
don't see any similarity between the two.
BTW If you can't find a use for the pointy part of your boat hook, you
can always cut it off. Although some find it useful for laying the eye
of a dockline over a cleat, or pushing away from a dock or boat or a rock.
Just sayin.
