Yup, the election where the Supremes required Florida to observe and
follow
the law.

Harry really wanted Strom Thurmond to be president.
That was a likely scenario if they dragged this out for another month
or so.

Without Jeb, Katherine Harris and "the fix" at the Supreme Court, Dubya
would have spent the rest of his life sucking wind in some backwater
Texas 'burb, just as he is doing now.

Yep, that election was a milestone, not only for the country but for
rec.boats.

Prior to 2000, this newsgroup's focus was still predominately on boating
subjects sprinkled with light hearted exchanges and debates, none
particularly mean spirited in nature. Many were funny as hell and
provided a source of boating related entertainment. Who can forget the
famous bilge pump debate between Marcus and what's her name? Many
participants, now long forgotten, had expert experience and knowledge
that they shared.

The election and loss by Al Gore was the pivot point of the decline of
rec.boats as a boating newsgroup. Political bitterness raised it's ugly
head, led mostly by Harry Krause and joined by a relatively small group
of Democrats who were obviously disappointed with the election results.

Most got over it. Not Harry.

Harry began his (now 13 year) quest to change the minds of every person
who does not support or believe in his liberal political ideology. When
that fails, he commences a campaign of craftily worded insults and
disparaging comments about the person. Ultimately, if the person holds
his ground and becomes a threat to his credibility, Harry exercises his
ultimate punishment ... he "plonks" the non-believing offender.

Its actually funny to witness in a way and it's also entertaining to
sometimes bait a hook and watch him go for it with always predictable
results.

But he's not getting better. He's actually getting worse. He's still
counting chaffs in Florida ballots cards desperately looking for proof
that Gore really won.

Funny stuff. Stick to electronics. I have never had any desire to
"change the minds" of any here who disagree with my political views. And
I only plonk juvenile assholes, like your good buddy in Florida.

I don't know that Gore won. But I am sure Bush lost.
