I still like XP. I ended up taking my IBM laptop back from 7 to XP.
The networking is easier among other things.

W7 and up has a whole lot of network security I have no interest in. I
don't use wireless for my network so hacking in is a lot tougher.

I just looked at what I'd have to do to switch from XP to Win7.

Never mind. I'll stick with XP until this machine breaks and then get whatever's on the new one.
